TAXI review

here’s what music A&R reps from Taxi® had to say about single “Yeah Right”

”Nicole Frechette has a voice that is reminiscent of LeAnn Rimes, only it’s softer. Her phrasing is authentically country, her tone is very clear, her pitch is excellent, and she is beautiful and young. Basically, she is blessed. Her first single, ‘Yeah Right’, has a style that can be considered contemporary country, as well as pop/country. The melody has a memorable hook, good energy and range, and it is competitive. ‘Yeah Right’ has an effective song structure that is formatted for modern country radio. Nicole’s decision to record such professionally written songs represents her well as an artist. This Phil Vassar tune has a terrific lyric to which Nicole brings a sassy attitude.”

COUNTRY IDOL 2008 in MASS

Made my way up to Charlie Horse Restaurant in MA for their COUNTRY IDOL 2008 competition and it was a blast! This time around in my ‘idol’ search life, I ended up at a restaurant that had a huge dinning area, a million sports games on in one section, stage with dance floor in front, bar behind, pool arena to the left in another section of the place and an arcade (yes!) behind the whole place..who could NOT have a ball here! Plus they ate up country music like I did not expect for a place in MA. I’ve had to do a bit of reformatting these past few weeks and get together a new method for marketing my music. It’s very difficult to market and promote yourself as a product when the art & creativity are so close to the heart of the matter. Of course, I want to make a living out of music, but it’s still not easy to see everything I do as ‘strategized’ or part of a ‘business plan’. Anyhow, these competitions that I’ve been doing lately (which used to be something I thought of as unimportant and insignificant) are an inexpensive (as in, most often free) outlet for me to get to sing & get in front of new groups of people….(let’s hope fans).

& the results are in….
2008 Country IDOL will continue with NICOLE FRECHETTE reappearing in the 2nd round of semi-finals THURSDAY, MAY 15TH AT 10PM sharp at The Charlie Horse in Bridgewater, MA.

By the way, I met some really fantastic people at this event, including a phenomenal singer, who’s sweet as can be, named TRACILYNNE (who also will be advancing into the semi-finals) and a ROCKING band that I could not stop tapping along with named DIGGER DAWG (check em out!)

Here’s the link for the restaurant in case you are in or around MA & want to come out & support! Other wise, I’ll keep an update posted here as we move forwarding Country IDOL ’08.

results are in!…& maybe next time.

Ok ok so…star idol was a success!… but, not really. Actually I did very well singing Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” …(everyone just loves it, and why not, it is such a killer song..got all the elements of country blond girl attitude with vocal room & pop/rock rips to make anyone stop & listen) and I got a GREAT response from the crowd (although I must say, performing in the middle of the mall, in broad daylight to passer-bys that have no clue what is going on is not the most ideal stage situation, but we work where we’re put, eh?..plus check out the picture Alex caught below..looks kinda like I’m showcasing for Macy’s or what?! Haha) . Overall, my support group (AK,LM, Alex & her QU dorm room crew) and I thought I had it in the bag. Nevertheless, I did not get called for round II of 99.9 star Idol *sigh*, but alas, my life is not over, it will go on, and in fact last night it did!..look out for my next post & find out all about how things are looking up (idol-iszed again!)

Photographer workshop shoot in HARTFORD

Monday I had the pleasure of being shot (but unharmed, mind you, haha) by over 20 very talented photographers at a workshop hosted by STEVE DEPINO & CARLA TEN EYCK  in Hartford. You can read all about it and check here for updates about the day: http://www.photosbycarla.blogspot.com/
More pictures & links to come for an inside peak at what the day was like & how the photos all turned out…I was amazed at how each photographers could take very similar shots & add a world of difference to create completely different perspectives…I had so much fun & hope I can be involved again! Thanks to all the eyes behind the cameras for making it so easy to be a part of.
